German Coach, Gernot Rohr is in France for the Olympics and was visibly a sad man on Thursday night as his “team” lost a game opener in the most painful of ways.
The sacked Super Eagles Coach was spotted rooting for the Super Falcons at the Bordeux Stadium as the Nigerian side engaged the Canarinhas from Brazil in a group C encounter of the 2024 Olympics which officially opens today Friday.
At the end of hostilities, a goal was enough to give Brazil all three points at stake and Gernot Rohr who was spotted before and after alongside the Vice President of Africa’s Football Supporters Union, Vincent Okumagba was unhappy but managed to say that all hope was not lost. “It’s the first game. It would have been nice to start on a front foot but it is still early days”, he muttered.
On his part, Vincent Okumagba who is the founder and president of the Super Eagles Supporters Club of Nigeria is already looking up to the next game against World Champions, Spain.
“As we speak we are already on our way to Nantes. The Brazil defeat is behind us and we are eagerly awaiting the World Champions. We are off to Nantes now to galvanise support for the Falcons”, Okumagba affirmed.
The next game for Nigeria comes up on Sunday against Spain at the Stade de la Beaujoire, Nantes.
